Kevin Wilkinson, 46
Kevin
Wilkinson, 46, of the town of Addison, was called to his heavenly home on
Sunday evening, Nov. 27, 2011 after a long and brave battle with
cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Julie; sons Dylan, Gavyn, and
Brody, Tyler of Boone, N.C., and Logan of Port Washington; sisters,
Carolyn Sloan of Beaverton, Ore., and Sarah Clucas of Austin, Texas;
brothers-in-law, Jeff Denison of Rapid City, S.D., and Andrew Raasch of
Hartford; sister-in-law Cindi Hetzer of Addison; nephews and nieces
Matthew and Jordan Sloan, Katherine Denison and Avery Clucas; parents John
and Vickie Wilkinson of Austin, Texas; parents-in-law, Dennis and Carol
Moehr of Addison, and Richard and Susan Raasch of Hartford.
Kevin was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Denison; and father, Roy
Jerry Barlow.
He served in the United States Army as a paratrooper with the Special
Forces.
Kevin’s passion in life was his family and football. He moved to
Wisconsin in 1995 and found the love of his life in Julie. He loved the
Denver Broncos and was assistant football coach for the Slinger High
School Owls, working primarily with running backs and receivers. Some of
his most joyous moments were spent walking the sidelines of the Slinger
games, coaching and encouraging each player. Wanting to contribute to the
fight against cancer for others, Kevin organized the first Coaches Vs.
Cancer event this past September. The support of Slinger High School
and Hartford Union High School athletics ensured a record setting amount
of funds raised and donated to the American Cancer Society.
Kevin’s family life was enriched by his enthusiasm for every aspect
of living. He loved playing with his wife and children, teasing his
sisters, debating politics with his parents, working in the yard, outdoor
barbeques, and engaging in all sports whether as a spectator or
participant. We will miss his tall tales, warm smile, winning attitude,
and the generous love of our husband, father, son, brother and
friend.
The family wishes to thank the Aurora Visiting Nurses Hospice, especially
Cindy, Cathy and John, for their loving care, along with the Vince
Lombardi Cancer Care Center and staff in Slinger.
Funeral services in celebration of Kevin’s life will be held on
Thursday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Slinger,
799 St. Paul Drive. Pastor James Castillo will officiate and burial will
follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hartford. Visitation will be Thursday
at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Slinger High School
Football Program are appreciated by the family.
