Betty Jane Koehler, 89
Betty Jane Koehler, nee Boehm, 89, of West
Bend passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011 at Cedar Lake Health and
Rehabilitation Center in the town of West Bend.
She was born on Feb. 22, 1922 in Shawano to the late Joseph and Anna (nee
Rafoth) Boehm. On Dec. 26, 1943, Betty was united in marriage to Raymond
Koehler at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bonduel. In 1955, they moved to
West Bend with their family. Ray preceded her in death on Dec. 16,
1986.
Betty worked for J.C. Penney Company, retiring in 1987.
She was a member of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church. Betty was very
witty, always telling a good joke. She enjoyed playing Sheepshead and
watching game shows.
She is survived by her two children, Robert (Christine) Koehler of Mead,
Colo., and Michael (Janice) Koehler of West Bend; three grandchildren,
Robert Koehler Jr., Dawn Koehler and Christopher (Tammy) Koehler;
three great-grandchildren, Cody Taylor, Sydney Koehler and Hailey Koehler;
sister-in-law, Isabelle Westerfeldt, brothers-in-law, Leonard (Ida)
Koehler, Kenneth (Dorothy) Koehler and Harley (Alice) Koehler; other
relatives and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray; son, Jim; and
two sisters, Audrey Laehn and Ruth Smith.
A memorial service in remembrance of Betty will be held on Thursday, Oct.
6 at 6 p.m. at the Myrhum – Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St.,
West Bend, with Rev. Jeremy Deaner of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church
officiating. Visitation will be Thursday at the funeral home from 3:30
p.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will take place Friday
at 10 a.m. in Washington County Memorial Park.
