Alvin C. Pfeiffer Jr., 80 A memorial service will be held Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Pilgrim United Church of Christ, Grafton, for Alvin C. Pfeiffer Jr., of Grafton, who was born to eternal life on Oct. 4, 2011, at the age of 80. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. The Rev. Franz Rigert will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Pilgrim United Church of Christ are appreciated. Mueller Funeral Home & Crematory of Grafton has assisted the family. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.muellerfuneralhome.com. Al was born in Milwaukee on June 27, 1931, to Alvin C. and Esther (nee Buettner) Pfeiffer. He attended Milwaukee Washington High School. Al met Dorothy Mitich at UW-Milwaukee. They were married in September of 1953. Al and Dorothy lived most of their lives in Cedarburg. He was very active in the community. Al was a member of the Cedarburg/Grafton Rotary, a member of the Cedarburg Common Council and a former president of the Cedarburg Chamber of Commerce. He worked at Koehler Insurance for more than 20 years. He and Dorothy have spent the last several years in the village of Grafton. Al was an avid fan of history, especially of the Civil War era. He collected miniature lead soldiers of the war. One of Al’s other favorite hobbies was woodworking. He made game cutouts, toys, dump trucks and seasonal cutouts. Al was involved in many craft fairs. Al was known as the Cookie Man because he baked cutout Christmas cookies and delivered them to his children’s schools, family members and friends. He would make a thousand or more every year. He would attach cards to his deliveries and became well known for his cookies. Al is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Dorothy; children, Mark (Jolinda) Pfeiffer, Lee Pfeiffer, Sue (Mark) Kohlenberg, Mike (Chrissy) Pfeiffer, Candace (Jeffrey) Kearl and Cheryl (Scott) Peterson; grandchildren, Fawn (Orrin) Thompson, Jeffrey (Phoebe) Pfeiffer, Joshua (Chelsey) Kearl, Jordan Kearl, Caitlyn Kearl, Abby Kohlenberg, Lauren Kohlenberg, Alyssa Pfeiffer, Anna Pfeiffer and Danny Pfeiffer; great-grandchildren, Jared Thompson and Jordan Thompson; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Russel R. Pfeiffer. Al was a loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers. If you wish to show your support, you are welcome to wear your Packers attire to Al’s visitation and service. |
