John K. Baer, 70 John K. Baer of Grafton passed away on Oct. 1, 2011, while doing one of his most loved activities: hunting. John battled a long fight with heart disease, which finally took his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Violet Baer; and his sister, Patricia. He is survived by wife, Judy Baer; his children, Rob, Stephanie and Mike (Kate); and his granddaughters, Julia and Jaden Crawley; as well as a loving extended family. Born on July 9, 1941, in Sheboygan, John graduated from Sheboygan North High School and went on to obtain a metallurgical engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin. Over the course of his career, John worked for General Motors in Saginaw, Mich., and several foundries in the Milwaukee area. He was most recently employed by Pentair in Sheboygan. Upon retirement he continued to work as a consultant to Pentair. John was an active and founding board member of the Ozaukee Pheasants Forever. Over the course of his life, John enjoyed riding motorcycles, learning to fly and spending time outside on his land. He was a man who embraced his role of husband, father and grandfather and his devotion ran deep. His lifelong thoughtfulness touched many and will be deeply missed. He was always there for others yet on his last day he put himself first and died exactly as he wanted to – outside with his boots on, a gun in his hand and his dog by his side. Upon John’s request, there will be no visitation or memorial service. Condolences may be sent to the family in care of Judy Baer, 915 17th Ave., Grafton, WI 53024. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Ozaukee Chapter of Pheasants Forever/Education Program.
