Frederick R. Bertrand, age 78, of West Bend left to be with his wife Nancy on Tuesday, October 11, 2011. He was born May 20, 1933, in Milwaukee to the late Alfred and Ann (nee Repinski) Bertrand and married Nancy A. Jastromski on Oct. 27, 1951, in Milwaukee. Nancy preceded him in death on March 26, 2003. 

Fred served in the U.S. Air Force following high school. After his discharge he began working as a route drive for Stacies Automitique Vending. He enjoyed golfing and spending time on the shooting range. Fred was a member of the New Fane Sportsman’s Club. 

He was loved by everyone he came into contact with. 

Fred is survived by his 4 children: Daniel (Nancy) of West Bend, David (Norma) of Taylorsville, KY, Denise (Tim) Bauer of Campbellsport and Dean of West Bend, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother Jim (Pat) Bertrand of Cedarburg, his sister Alice Liss of West Allis, a brother-in-law Joseph Burki of Menomonee Falls, his feline friend Twiggy and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Ann, his wife Nancy, 2 grandchildren Nicky and Ervin Wiza, his sister Mary Ann Burki and aunts and uncles Harriet and Bill Carlson and Florence and Chuck Yost. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at 3 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend with Dan Schroeder officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2:45 p.m.
