Harvey Joseph Bingen, 87

Harvey Joseph Bingen, age 87, of West Bend passed away Monday Oct. 10, 2011, at Horizon Hospice, St. Mary's Hospital Mequon. 

He was born Dec. 29, 1923, in the town of Addison to the late Joseph and Lena Bingen. On May 27, 1947, he married Jeanette C. Walter at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, St Lawrence, WI. Jeanette preceded Harvey in death in May 2006. 

Harvey is survived by four children: Daniel (Judy) of Hubertus, WI, Michael (Brenda) of Benson, AZ., Joseph (Pat) of Richfield, WI, and Mary Margaret (Larry) Clark of West Bend, WI, and exceptional friend, Mary Jane Sternat of Allenton WI. He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Michele, Maureen, Monica, Jolie, Adam, Angela, Christie, Andrea, Jacob and Alicia and eight great -grandchildren: Darien, Casidy, Kobe, Kamren, Colton, Elizabeth, Hunter and Jasper. 

Harvey was the last of the gentlemen farmers. He worked at The West Bend Company for 38 years, retiring in 1985. He was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army, discharged in 1946. Harvey volunteered for the American Red Cross for many years after retirement, and spent many weeks traveling with Jeanette across the United States. He was passionate and took great pleasure in his vegetable gardens and lawn. There was little he could not repair or build. He was a member of the Fohl-Martin Post 483 American Legion of Allenton WI. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at 7 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend with Rev. Jerome Repenshek presiding. Private entombment will be in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend. Visitation at Holy Angels Church will be Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. Memorials to the Washington County Humane Society or Alzheimer's Association are appreciated.
