William J. ‘Bill’ Carruthers

William J. "Bill" Carruthers, 79 of, the town of Jackson died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at Froedtert Health St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was born Nov. 7, 1931, in Marshfield to the late Charles and Marie (nee Henrichs) Carruthers and married Corrine (Van Damme) Johnson on Oct. 13, 1962.

Bill was an avid life-long Packer fan. He and Corrine enjoyed golfing, travelling and attending their grandchildren’s sporting events. They were thought of as professional grandparents. Bill loved to read and was known for his tremendous reading skills.

He was a member of the Plumbers Local 75.

Bill is survived by his wife of 49 years, Corrine, 4 children: Sharon Johnson-Butch of West Bend, Tom (Robbie) Johnson of Middleton, Rick Johnson of Jackson and Laurie (Frank) Restifo of Brecksville, Ohio, and his daughter-in-law Norene Johnson of West Bend. He was the proud grandfather of: Steve (Monica) Johnson, Chris Johnson, Kim (Jake) Reiland, Julie (Joe) Beder, Marc (Tammy) Knop, Jennifer (Patrick) Perrott, Sarah Butch, Katy Butch, Michael (Shannon) Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Melissa Johnson, Stephanie Johnson, Crystal Johnson, Holly Johnson, Kayla Johnson, Alanna Restifo and Adam Restifo, proud great-grandfather of 15 and great-great-grandfather of 1. He is further survived by his sister Margo Bergquist of West Bend, his sister-in-law Lyn Carruthers of San Diego, Calif., his brother-in-law Bob McCabe of Norway, Mich., and nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marie Carruthers, his son Larry Johnson, his sister Jeanne Marie Awbrey, his brother David Carruthers, 2 brothers-in-law Al Bergquist and Orville Van Damme and a sister-in-law Phyllis McCabe.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at 6 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend with Deacon Mark Jansen officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until 5:45 p.m.
