Joanne Schlenvogt, 65, of West Bend, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in West Bend after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born Nov. 2, 1945 in Port Washington, daughter of Arlene Jaeger Schlenvogt and the late Earl Schlenvogt Sr. She was a 1963 graduate of Port Washington High School. She worked at Modern Equipment Company in Port Washington, Tecumseh Products in Grafton and Broy Company in West Bend.
Joanne was a member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Grafton. She was active in Citizens Advocacy of Washington County, a volunteer for Special Olympics, Jam Music Fest and was a chaperone at Threshold in West Bend. For over 30 years she enjoyed anonymously playing Mrs. Santa Claus, distributing toys to needy families.
Survivors include her foster son Adam Fellenz of West Bend, her mother Arlene Schlenvogt of Port Washington, her siblings Earl Jr. (Bonnie) of Port Washington, Alan (Donna) of Belgium, Gary (Doris) of Port Washington, Linda (Dale) Rudd of Waubeka and Lee (Pam) of Port Washington, nieces, nephews, and her special friends Jean Krell, Nancy Gierach, Jan Volm and Lynn Fellenz,
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Oct. 23, 3 p.m. at Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 1621 2nd Ave., Grafton with Pastor Franz Rigert officiating. Inurnment will be in Union Cemetery, Port Washington. Visitation at the church Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Citizens Advocacy of Washington County or Special Olympics appreciated. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, is assisting the family with arrangements
