Irene Nielsen, 97 A funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at Lumen   Christi, 138 W. Buntrock Ave., Thiensville, for Irene Nielsen, 97.   Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with a service to follow at 11 a.m. Irene was known by many as "Nona" (Italian for grandma). Irene was   born on Nov. 16, 1913. Irene is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Strauss; grandchildren,   Chuck (Beth) Strauss of St.Germain, Deborah (Jamie) Wiebrecht of   Shawnee, Kan., and Dawn (Todd) Berlin of Mequon: cherished great-  grandchildren, Max and Sommer Wiebrecht and Shelby and Matthew   Berlin; and her two best friends, Janine Gosnell and Amy Krumbiegel. She ran a successful business in Winnetka, Ill., placing domestic   help throughout the Chicago area. Irene, Nona, will be remembered for her sage advice, the magic of her   iron, and her legendary cooking and baking skills, especially her   cookies. She was an avid bowler, bridge player and community member.   In 2003, Irene moved to Mequon.  Her love of bridge helped her to   make many new friends here.
