Clara Emma Waldschmidt, 60

Clara Emma Waldschmidt (nee Drehmel), better known as "Tootie," of West Bend and long-time resident of Allenton, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2011. Tootie, 60, was born Jan. 5, 1951, to John and Evelyn (Spang) Drehmel in Fond du Lac.

Tootie attended Eden Elementary School and Campbellsport High School. She was employed for 29 years by Cedar Community of West Bend as a certified nursing assistant. She enjoyed her work, caring for others, and training new co-workers. She was well-liked by all who were fortunate to know her. Tootie was also employed by Regal Ware of Kewaskum and The Eden Canning Company in her earlier days.

Tootie enjoyed traveling and RV-ing with her husband. Together, she and her husband have spent the last few winters in Arizona and took trips to Florida and other locations. Her hobbies included sewing, cross-stitch, and plastic canvas, among others. She was a member of The American Legion Auxiliary Fohl-Martin Post 483 of Allenton. She was also a licensed amateur radio operator N9OOY.

Tootie married Thomas Waldschmidt at St. Mathew’s Catholic Church in Campbellsport on June 15, 1974. Together they raised 3 children: Jessica (Steven) Jaeger of Cascade, Christina (Michael) King of West Bend, and Kevin (Kayla nee Lackas) Waldschmidt of Slinger.

Tootie is survived by her husband Tom; her children; and six grandchildren Zachary and Mathew Jaeger, and Trinity, Elijah, Hadassah, and Selah King. She is further survived by brother Robert (Margaret) Drehmel of Fond du Lac; sisters Micki (Glen) Gade of Eden and Shirley Kurtze of Fond du Lac; brothers-inlaw James Waldschmidt of Lomira and John (Bobbi) Waldschmidt of Fond du Lac; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She will also be dearly missed by her dog Elmo. Tootie is preceded in death by her parents; sisters Mary Lou and Eleanore; and brother Richard.

A celebration of Tootie’s life will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Dr. in West Bend with the Rev. Luke Emrich and the Rev. James Tucci presiding. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at the funeral home ONLY. Private inurnment will take place at Washington County Memorial Park.
