Ann Katt, 75

Ann Katt (nee Flader), 75, of West Bend, passed away Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. 

Ann was born on April 24, 1936 to A. Willard and Helen (nee Sommer) Flader in Sheboygan. She graduated from Sheboygan High School and attended UW Madison. Ann married Paul Katt and had three children. In 1971, she moved to West Bend. In 1978, she married Bill Otto and gained another daughter. The family lived on Silver Lake. 

In the late 1970s Ann formed K & H Realty and Builders, which later became American Real Estate. She was a keenly intelligent, successful business woman who really cared about the people she helped. 

Ann was fun, daring, enthusiastic and curious. She loved all kinds of people. She enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, skiing, swimming, reading and playing bridge. Ann and Bill traveled throughout Turkey, Greece, Jordan, Egypt, Viet-nam, Cambodia, Thailand, China and Tibet. At age 70 she hiked in and out of the Grand Canyon. Two years later she rafted the Colorado through the Grand Canyon with the women of her family. As an avid reader she enjoyed the companionship of friends in two book groups. 

In her retirement she volunteered for Meals on Wheels in West Bend and Habitat for Humanity inSun City West, Ariz. where she and Bill spent their winters. 

She will be terribly and lovingly missed by family and friends. 

Ann is survived by her loving husband Bill, children David (Cindy) Katt, Barb (Randy Surbaugh) Katt, Sue Katt, Laura Otto-Salaj (Scott Salaj). She is further survived by her grandchildren Josh and Ashley Katt and Dani Salaj, brothers Tom Flader and Jim (Linda Wagner) Flader, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents. 

Funeral services for Ann will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at the Phillip Funeral Chapel in West Bend, 1420 W. Paradise Drive. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 p.m. until time of service.
