Vivian M. Kannass, 91
Vivian M. Kannass, (nee Johnson), 91, of Emerald Ridge (formerly The Legacy) in Hartford, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at Aurora Medical Center Hartford. She was born Aug. 10, 1920, in Mukwonago, the daughter of Matt and Gilda (nee Johnson) Johnson. Vivian was united in marriage to Ervin W. Kannass on April 12, 1947, at Vernon Lutheran Church. He preceeded her in death on Aug. 11, 2010. They were married for 63 years. She and her husband owned and operated the Arctic Circle Locker Plant and Erv's Liquor Store until retirement in 1983.
Vivian was an active member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Hartford. She was involved in the Priscilla Circle, served on the Church Council, and was a volunteer at Cedar Lake Home and Cedar Ridge Nimble Thimbles. Vivian was always on the go and enjoyed baking, cooking and sewing. She also greatly enjoyed rosemaling and gardening. Visitors were always greeted with a good meal, fresh bakery and a cookie jar that was always full. But above all, she cherished her time with her family.
Vivian is survived by her children Karen (Jerry) Vredeveld and Brian (Kim) Kannass, all of Hartford; her grandchildren Jennifer (John) Michaels of Waukesha and Jodi (Andy) Powers of Madison; her great - grandchildren Hannah Michaels, Adam Michaels and Max Powers, and her brother Rodney (Beverly) Johnson of Hartford. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Wisconsin Parkinson Association would be appreciated.
Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Jack Freiheit. Interment is at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
