Jerome D. Hanrahan, 88

Jerome D. Hanrahan, 88, of West Bend died on Monday, Sept. 26, 2011 at the Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on April 20, 1923, to the late David B. and Mary (nee Foy) Hanrahan. Jerome grew up on the family farm in the town of Scott in Sheboygan County. After attending area schools, he graduated from Kewaskum High School with the Class of 1941.

The family then moved to a farm in the town of Kewaskum. 

On May 29, 1948, he was united in marriage to Myrtle E. Schmidt at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Prior to moving to West Bend in 1951, the couple lived on the Hanrahan family homestead in the Town of Kewaskum. 

For many years, he worked as a deliveryman and later a salesman for area furniture stores, including Berres Furniture and Larson Furniture. Following his retirement, he worked part-time as a maintenance man for J.C. Penny Department Store in West Bend. 

In addition to caring for his family, he enjoyed fishing and playing cards, mainly sheepshead and scat. 

He was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Fr. Casper Rehrl Council #1964 Knights of Columbus. 

Survivors include his wife Myrtle; three children Donald (Jan) of Plymouth, John (special friend Cindy Torres) of Campbellsport and Michael of Hubertus; three grandchildren Christopher (Karen), Kelly (Keith) Klug and Sacha (Adam) Ososki; four great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother Marie Wietor, Patricia (Raynor) Herriges and George (Mary), all of Kewaskum; 1 brother-in-law Harold (Ruth) Schmidt of West Bend; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers-inlaw Cyril Wietor, Walter Schmidt and Lloyd Schmidt. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 6 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends during a period of visitation at the church only on Thursday from 4 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. 

The family has requested Masses or memorials to Holy Angels Church, the Holy Angels School Trust Fund or to the charity of the donor's choice.
