Donna Louise Egre, 88|
Donna Louise Egre (nee Sautter) passed away on March 18, 2012, at the age of 88.
Donna was born in Idaho on Sept. 24, 1923, to Doris and John "George"
Sautter. She was preceded in death in 2004 by her beloved husband of over 59 years, "Burt." She was raised in DeForest, where she excelled academically in forensics, and on the clarinet while attending DeForest High School.
Donna served as a Cadet Nurse during World War II, while Burt was a U.S. Army 8th Air Force P-51 Mustang pilot. She graduated from St.
Mary’s Nursing School and relished her profession as a registered nurse at Milwaukee’s Columbia Hospital for approximately 30 years.
Throughout life, she retained her sharp mind and her dedication to caring for and about others.
Donna’s family moved from Milwaukee to Mequon in 1956. She was an active participant in the PTA before encouraging her children through college. Since 2003, she lived at Newcastle Place, where she enjoyed and was adored by staff and residents. Donna derived great pleasure from reading, her book club, sewing, needle point, crocheting and arts and crafts. She was as devoted a pet lover as one could ever imagine.
Donna loved, and is survived by, her loving children, Dennis, Carol Myers and Douglas (Laurie); her grandchildren, Adam, Ray (Kristi) Myers and Chris Myers; her great-grandchildren, Jack and Reid Myers; and her sister, Ila Preti.
A memorial service will be conducted on April 14, at 11 a.m., at Newcastle Place, 12600 N. Port Washington Road, Mequon.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift to the Ozaukee County Humane Society would be appreciated.
Schramka-Densow Funeral Home in Thiensville is serving the family.
