Roland “Rollie” N. Yanke, 84, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2012.
Rollie was born on May 22, 1927, in Milwaukee to Ernst and Alma (nee Sonnenberg) Yanke. He married Gunilde “Goodie” Tewes on July 19, 1947, in Frankfurt, Germany. Rollie was a dedicated employee of WE Energies for over 30 years. He was a dedicated family man, and he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Rollie was a longtime member and past governor of the West Bend Moose Lodge Post 1398.
Rollie is survived by his wife of 64 years, Goodie; and children Sandy (Mike) Morell of West Bend, Chris (Bill) Sauer of Allenton, Mark (Sue) Yanke of West Bend, Scott (Kellie) Yanke of Belguim and Kathi (Bill) Seiler of Lincoln, Neb. He is proud grandpa (Opa) to 11 grandchildren: Michael (Kandi) Morell, Mark (Shannon) Morell, Stephanie (Dave) Goodno, Megan (Eric) Weber, B.J. (Lindsay) Sauer, Scott (Kayla) Sauer, Alison (Matt) Helms, Danielle Yanke, Emma, Jacob and Bradley Yanke; and great-papa to 12 great-grandchildren. Rollie is further survived by his brother Walter (Ruth) of Jackson and sister Lorna Forbes of Neenah, nephew Dieter Schmidt of Germany, his best buddy Minnie, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his infant son Steven, parents Ernst and Alma Yanke, and brothers Melvin (Grace) and Leroy, brother-in-law Bob Forbes, and sister-in-law Tante Friedchen Beyer.
A funeral service for Rollie will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Drive in West Bend, with Rev. Matt Helms presiding. Visitation will be from 3-6:30 p.m. with a Moose Lodge Service at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at the funeral home only.
