Carl Palash, 87

Carl Palash, 87, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2012.

Carl was born on Jan. 6, 1925, in Amherst, to the late John and Melvina (nee Konkol) Palash. In 1950, he was called to service by the US Army and served honorably in the Korean War from 1951 to 1952.

Upon return from the war, Carl moved to West Bend, where he met Delores Freitag in 1954 and married Feb. 4, 1956, at Holy Angels Catholic Church.
After 19 years, Carl retired from the West Bend Joint School District in 1988. He was a loving husband, dad and grandpa who looked forward to family get-togethers. Carl also enjoyed playing sheepshead, fishing, hunting, mushroom picking and making his personal sausage and wine.

Carl is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Delores Palash of West Bend, children Mary (Ty) Vaughan of Pewaukee, Carl R. (Denise) Palash of Carol Stream, Ill., Steven Palash of West Bend, and Laurie (Bob) Yahr of West Bend. He is the proud grandpa of eight grandchildren: Jason, Brittany, and Kyle Vaughan, Ryan, Amanda, and Andrew Palash, and Austin and Amber Yahr.

Carl is further survived by his sisters, Evelyn Staniscewski of Hales Corners and Florence Muldoon of South Bend, Ind., his twin brother Clem of Slinger, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is proceeded in death by his parents and siblings Lucy Sharafinski, Susie Sopa, Jenny Sharafinski, Gertrude Sharafinski, Marie Zale, Sister Immaculate (Bernice), John, Barney, Raymond, Carolina Sopa, Della Weisbrod, and Chester.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 13, 2012, from 9:30-11:45 a.m., at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church, 406 Jefferson St. in West Bend, with the funeral Mass following and Father John Radetski presiding. Immediately following will be the burial, with full military honors, at St. Mary’s Cemetery (new).

Carl’s family would like to extend special thanks to Kathy Hospice, Dr. G. Michael Mosley, Dr. Candice Johnstone, Dr. A. Shera, Mr. Dan Schroeder, Father John Radetski, and Horizon Health Care for their loving care and kindness to Carl and his entire family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to St. Mary’s Catholic School.
