Charles was born in Milwaukee on Aug. 7, 1923, the son of Charles and Emma Pinkham, who preceded him in death. Charles was united in marriage to Mildred Dedering and they were blessed with two children.
They have been married for 64 years. Charles studied photography under the famous Ansel Adams. He loved photography and was very good at his craft. He also was an avid rummage sales person. Charles could even tell you where the good ones were. He rode the rails to California and back on a steam engine (The Big Boy). He loved model trains as well.
Charles enjoyed his amateur Ham Radio calls and his call sign was “K9MAU.” He was licensed with this call sign in 2006. Charles was an electrical engineer for a local TV station as well.
Charles is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mildred Balkwill; children, Sherry (Dean) Kelley and David Balkwill; grandchildren, Kim (Shawn) Riley and Bryan Kelley; great-grandchildren, Mykayla, Monica and Jaden Silva; and step-great-granddaughter; Emma Riley; other relatives and friends.
