Melvin Kertscher, 69|
Melvin Kertscher, 69, of Campbellsport went to his heavenly home on Monday, April 16, 2012, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.
He was born in West Bend on Dec. 20, 1942, the son of the late Melvin and Bernice Stemper Kertscher. Melvin graduated from Random Lake High School in 1960. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1960 until 1964. On May 14, 1966, he married Rita Jacky at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada.
He owned and operated Vista Sales Inc. He was a member of the Fond du Lac American Legion Post 75. He was a former member of the Kettle Kruisers Snowmobile Club from 1978 until 1988. He coached baseball from 1978 until 1990 for the Long Lake Baseball Association. He loved his grandchildren and loved to ride his Honda Trike.
Survivors include his wife Rita, his mother Bernice of West Bend, three sons: Jim (Kay) of Sheboygan, Bill (Traci) and Rick (Shannon) both of Fond du Lac, one daughter: Kim (Nick) Konen of St. Cloud, six grandchildren: Kyle, McKayla, Emma, Spencer, Abby Kertscher and Maci Konen, four brothers: Ron (Joan) of Hot Springs,Ark., Floyd (Helen) of Campbellsport, Larry of West Bend and Robert (Vicki) of Milwaukee and twin sisters: Jean Mansfield of Green Bay and Joyce Haeuser of Kewaskum, and nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father.
A prayer service will be held on Thursday, April 19, at 6:30 p.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, W1562 Highway B, Eden. The Rev. Joseph Juknialis will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, April 19 from 3-6:30 p.m. at the church and military rites at 3 p.m. at the church performed by the American Legion Post 75.
