Ruth M. Hackbarth, nee von Bargen, 90, of West Bend passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, at the Aurora Medical Center in Hartford.
She was born Sept. 18, 1921, Dubuque, Iowa, to the late Henry and Emma (nee Kerth) von Bargen. She was united in marriage to the Rev. Victor Hackbarth on Feb. 10, 1940, in Dubuque, Iowa.
Ruth was an ever-dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She had deep faith in the Lord and was involved in many church activities, including teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. She loved nature and enjoyed gardening vegetables and flowers.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Victor Hackbarth; four children, Donald Hackbarth of Nevada, Iowa, Judith (David) Holmes of Wauwatosa, Jane (Erwin) Moses of Fort Mitchell, Ky., and David (Nancy) Hackbarth of Fond du Lac; five grandchildren, Julie Moses, Stephanie (Barry) Ko, Matthew (Julie) Moses, Aaron Hackbarth, and Brent Holmes; three great-grandchildren, Madeline Ko, Ava Hackbarth, and Emily Hackbarth; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, James Richard Hackbarth, and a sister, Katherine Bregman.
Funeral services in remembrance of Ruth will be held on Sunday, Aug. 19, at 3 p.m. at Our Saviorís Ev. Lutheran Church, 1044 Silverbrook Drive, West Bend. The Rev. Darrin Wiebe will officiate and burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Lebanon. Visitation will be at the church on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Our Saviorís Ev. Lutheran Church are appreciated.
