Alice E. Schickert, nee Thomas, 84, of West Bend died on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012 at The Kathy Hospice. She was born on Aug. 8, 1928 in the town of Saukville to the late Edward and Barbara (nee Hentges) Thomas.
On Nov. 20, 1954, she was united in marriage to Leo G. Schickert at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg. At this time, the couple settled in West Bend, where they made their home and raised their family.
Over the years, she shared her talents with many of her family. Her quilts and afghans were given to many family members and friends. She also took pride in her home including her flower gardens.
Alice was a devoted wife, loving mother and proud grandmother. The family would often gather for a traditional family dinner.
Survivors include her husband, Leo; three children Daniel (Annette) of Prairie du Chien, Kenneth (Debi) of Waukesha and Nancy (Keith) Roecker of Allenton; seven grandchildren: Paul, John, Ryan, Gini (Michael) Schulist, Britni (Ryan Dvorak), Kevin Roecker and Adam Roecker; one brother Ralph (Hildegard) Thomas of Cedarburg; brothers-andsisters-in-law, Mathias (Catherine) Schickert of Kewaskum, Ann Schickert of Campbellsport, Mary (Ralph) Beine of West Bend, Bernard Schickert of Hartford, Joan Schickert, Lawrence (Toni) Schickert of Rhinelander and Andrew (Lillie) Schickert of Sheboygan; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters, Lawrence (Lucille) Thomas, Regina (Joseph) Roeckl, Sr. Mary Ann Thomas and Audrey Thomas, and three brothers in-law, Donald Schickert, Henry Schickert and Norbert Schickert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Aug. 24 at 11 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church with burial following in Holy Angels Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m. and also Friday at the church only from 10-10:45 a.m.
The family has requested memorials to the Holy Angels School Trust Fund or The Kathy Hospice.
