Al Schlecht, 81
Alfred
L. "Al" Schlecht of Grafton, passed away on Aug. 18,
2012, at the Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa at the
age of 81.
Al was born in Marshfield on June 29, 1931, the son
of Michael and Katherine (nee Hupfel) Schlecht. Al was
united in marriage to Haidee "Dee" Kipps on Jan. 10,
1959, in Hollywood. Al was a graduate of Marquette
University, served in the U.S. Navy and was employed by
Moebius Printing Co. as a sales executive for 37 years.
He also served on almost every committee of the
Grafton Village Board over the past 37 years including:
Finance, Public Works, Public Safety, Board of Review,
Community Activities, CATV, Plan Commission and the
Joint Town of Grafton
Village
of Grafton Ad-Hoc Committee.
He was the past president of the International
Institute of Wisconsin. He was appointed to the
Milwaukee River Revitalization Board and was an Eagle
Scout.
Al is survived by his wife, Haidee "Dee" (nee Kipps);
children, Sue (Lee) Lurquin, Paul (Kathy) Schlecht,
Steven (Sherri) Schlecht, Michael (Virginia Kuhn)
Schlecht, Peter (Thu Anh) Schlecht and Kathy (Ron Bruns)
Schlecht; and grandchildren, Kaitlin and Ryan Lurquin;
Leah, Anna and Maria Schlecht; Alex Schlecht; Eric and
Melissa Jensen; Samantha and Coco Schlecht. He is
further survived by three sisters, nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends.
Alfred was preceded in death by his sister, Rose; and
his brother, Richard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today, Aug.
21, at 6 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1619
Washington St., Grafton. Interment will be at the church
cemetery. Visitation will be at the church today from 4
p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

Grafton, WI 53024, are appreciated.
