Erich F. Klatt, 91
Erich F. Klatt, age 91, of Slinger died peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 1,
2012. He was born on Oct. 31, 1921, in Buckowin, Germany, the son of the
late Eduard and Bertha Louisa (nee Weiss) Klatt.
He arrived in America in July 1965 and became a United States citizen.
He worked as a mason’s laborer until his retirement in October 1986. In
1975, he married Virginia Gebhard (nee Eiche).
Erich was a member of the Wisconsin Laborer’s Union, NRA, and Slinger
Sportsmen’s Club. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and being in
the outdoors. He also enjoyed time spent with family and friends telling
stories of the “old country.”
Erich is survived by his grandchildren Annette (Scott) Krueger of
Slinger, Jeff (Sara) Gebhard; great-grandchildren Chelsea and Cody of
Brandon, Wis., and many other friends and family members. He is preceded
in death by his wife, Virginia; son, Dennis; and his brother, Lothar. A
funeral service for Erich will be at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec.4, 2012,
at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Drive in West Bend
with Fr. Richard Stoffel presiding. Visitation will be from 3-5:15 p.m.
on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at the funeral home only. Private interment to
take place at New St. Peter’s Cemetery in Slinger.
