Gordon N. Neitzel, 74


Gordon “Gordy” Neal Neitzel, 74, of Theresa, was surrounded by his family when he was called to heaven to be with his grandson Cody and the rest of his family on Dec. 3, 2012, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.

Gordon was born on May 15, 1938, the son of Otto and Florence (Unglaub) Neitzel. He was married to Zora Stark on Oct. 25, 1958. He was father to Jeff (Cheri) Neitzel, Kristi Neitzel, Karin (Jerry) Weiglein, Kathi (David) Weninger, Kim (Mark) Schwartzmiller, proud gpa to Dan, Liz, Pat, Natalie, Emily and Allison Neitzel, Amanda, Katie, Andy, Kelsey and Riley Weiglein, John, Jacob (Brittany) and Jared Weninger, and Abbi and Justin Schwartzmiller, and further survived by brother-in-law, Jerry Stark, sister-in-law, Laurel Stark, his nephew, Joe (Christine) Stark, his niece, Mary Neitzel, and his faithful companion, his dog, Kessler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and parentsin- law: Louis and Rosemary Stark, his grandson, Cody Weiglein, his brother Courtney Neitzel, his nephew Paul Neitzel, sister-in-law Janice Stark and his niece Jennifer Borges.

Gordy was a charter member of the Theresa Lions Club, a proud member of the Theresa Fire Department from 1959-2012 and served as its secretary/ treasurer from 1976-1982. He was the secretary of the Dodge County Fireman’s Association from 1972-1990. He was the president of the village of Theresa from 1977-1984 and treasurer of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Theresa. Gordie was a charter member of the Theresa Pioneer Snowmobile Club. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mayville.

Gordy was employed at Kasten Manufacturing in Allenton from 1959 to 1984 when he and Zora opened Gordy’s Place in Theresa. They then opened G & Z’s Bar and Grill until retiring in 2002. Gordy will be remembered always for his flowers and corn stands that were in Lomira, Brownsville and Mayville. He enjoyed chatting with all the people that came to visit him.

He enjoyed going and seeing all his grandchildren in all their activities.

Funeral service for Gordon will be held on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Barry Hoerz officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 6, from 4-7 p.m. at the Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville and on Friday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mayville. Interment will be at Union Cemetery in Theresa.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the third and fifth floor staff of St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac for their wonderful care of Gordon.
