Richard Barnhouse,
78
The Lord ended the suffering of Richard “Barney” Barnhouse and took him
to his eternal home on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at the age of 78. Barney
was born on June 12, 1934, in Gary, Ind. to the late James and Edith
(nee Anderson) Barnhouse. On Sept. 28, 1957 Barney was united in
marriage to Patricia Stewart in his home town of Gary. He worked as an
automotive engineer for over 30 years.
Barney enjoyed golfing and was an avid Brewer and Packer fan. He had a
true love of music and sang in various barbershop choruses and quartets
for over 35 years. He was passionate about his church and was an active
member of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, where he sang in the
church choir and served on numerous committees as a lay leader. Barney
will be remembered as a man of high integrity and deep faith.
Beloved husband of, Patricia “Pat” Barnhouse of Jackson; loving father
of four children, Cheryl (Alan Sanger) Barnhouse of Spring Lake, Mich.,
Karen (Steve) Petersen of West Bend, John (Bonnie) Barnhouse of Jackson,
and Janice (Richard) Pszanka of West Des Moines, Iowa; two
grandchildren, Katie Petersen of Milwaukee and Matt Roudebush of West
Des Moines, Iowa; five step-grandchildren; three
step-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Larry (Sally) Stewart of
Carmel, Ind.; sister-in-law, Valerie Barnhouse of Valparaiso, Ind.; and
many other relatives and friends.
Barney was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dorothy Carbon
and Betty Chadwick; and two brothers, Robert and Norman Barnhouse.
A memorial service in remembrance of Barney will be held on Thursday,
Dec. 13, at 2:30 p.m. at Fifth Avenue United Methodist, 323 S. Fifth
Ave., West Bend. The Rev. Jeremy Deaner will officiate. Visitation will
be held on Thursday at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the
service.
Memorials to Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church are appreciated by the
family.
