Verna L. Yeadeke, 89, of West Bend went to her heavenly home in the morning hours of Dec. 18, 2012. Verna was being cared for by the loving staff of All About Life Rehabilitation Center in Fond du Lac.

She was born in West Bend on Oct. 14, 1923 to Walter and Lillian Zielieke Keller. She was their only child. Verna married Carl G. Yeadeke on May 18, 1946 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend. Together they owned and operated Hilltop Garden Center in Barton from 1960 to 1982.

Verna’s passion was for flowers and gardening. She was well known for the beautiful arrangements and floral decorations that she created with silk and artificial flowers. During her retirement, Verna created floral mugs which she delivered to the hospital in West Bend. In 1995, Verna received an award from the City of West Bend as a beautification acknowledgement of the impressive perennial garden that she created on the property next to her home.
