Elizabeth J. Yahr, 78|
Elizabeth "Betty" J. Yahr, 78, passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012.
Betty was a loyal and loving wife, compassionate and nurturing mother, devoted grandmother, and beloved friend. Her passing marks the closing and difficult chapter of a strong, courageous woman who fought bravely throughout her numerous struggles.
Most may fondly remember Betty, riding shotgun in a ’35 Chevy, waving from the window during any number of local parades and events. Or possibly her perennial attendance at antique auctions, her husband and usually an eager grandchild at her side. Or perhaps tending to her cherished flowers, which greeted passersby all summer long.
Her family and close friends will surely remember a decent and upbeat woman, never to take a day for granted or miss an opportunity to make someone smile. Ever the conversationalist and storyteller, Betty loved people and spending time with others. She especially valued her Thursdays with her five grandchildren, watching them learn and grow.
Whether excitedly entertaining for her family and friends or simply and quietly piecing together her countless puzzles, Betty truly found herself the life of whichever room she was in. She was a woman who people gravitated towards, in times both good and bad; a woman who plainly and clearly loved life.
Her family would like to take this opportunity to extend their deepest and sincerest thanks to all of Betty’s caregivers and supporters through her final days. Their efforts helped tremendously throughout and did not go unappreciated or unnoticed.
Passing on the year of her 60th wedding anniversary, she leaves her family and friends with countless, warm memories with which to ease them through these sad and trying times. Gone now but never to be forgotten, Betty is at peace.
Betty is survived by her husband of 59 years, Clifford, four children: Jeff (Shirley) of Kewaskum, Mike of Campbellsport, Scott (Lori) of West Bend and Cindy Wolf of West Bend; and five grandchildren: Melissa, Katie, Will, Brandon and Megan. She is further survived by two brothers-in-law: Phillip (Mary) Yahr of Berlin and Richard Yahr of Pound, and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Anna Schalles, her son-inlaw Thomas Wolf, two brothers Walter Schalles and Raymond Schalles, and her sister Lillie Janz.
