Florence V. Hafenstein, 87|
Florence V. Hafenstein (nee Oase), 87, of Hartford, passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012 at The Gardens of Hartford.
She was born Oct. 23, 1924 in Sandbourn, N.D. to Nans and Anna (nee Carlson) Oase. Florence was united in marriage to Russell Hafenstein, on July 15, 1945 at the First Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.
Florence worked for Broan Manufacturing for 27 years. She loved volunteering at church, the Hartford Aurora Hospital for many years and the Chamber of Commerce. Florence also enjoyed singing in the church choir, reading, watching movies with friends, making meals, playing cards, and working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Florence will be remembered as a dear friend to many.
Florence is survived by her children Judy (Charles) Elios; her grandchildren, Matthew and Julie (Michael) Flynn; and her sister-in-law Madeline Oase of Connecticut. She is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Florence is preceded in death by her parents, husband Russell, brothers Carl and Henry (Barbara) Oase, and sisters Solveig "Sally," Gunvor and Thelma.
Funeral services for Florence will be held on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012 at 6 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 255 W. Lincoln Ave. Hartford with Rev. Marcia Carrier officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends on Monday from 4-6 p.m. at the church.
