Sandy Day, 68
Sandy Day, 68, of Big Cedar Lake was born
May 10, 1943 to the late Delbert and Eliene Wandrey. She was a high school
sweetheart, wife, mom, referee, healer, organizer, motivator and the wind
in our family’s sail.
Sandy was welcomed into the eternal C Fleet on Jan. 1, 2012. Once again A
16 will be leading the way. She was a top competitor all her years sailing
with her father and continued the tradition with a skinny crew she found
when they were teenagers. Turned out he was the perfect guy for the job,
not missing a beat he married her to keep the position. From that moment
on Roland and Sandy Day sailed through life by each other’s side.
Relinquishing the helm briefly to give birth to their son Bradley.
Beginning a family and adding to a lifetime of memories in their dream
home nestled next to Cedar Lake, the serendipitous meeting place of
skipper and crew.
Sandy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Roland, her son Bradley
(Cheri) and a granddaughter, Emma.
The family will greet relatives and friends for a period of visitation on
Monday, Jan. 9, 2012 from 4-6 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in Jackson.
The Schmidt Funeral Home of Jackson is serving the family.
Online guestbook and condolences are available at
