Helen A. Glowacki, 89

Helen A. Glowacki (nee Schieber) of Pewaukee, formerly of Grafton for
more than 50 years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012,
at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital at the age of 89.

Helen was born on May 14, 1922, the third child of George and Laura
Schieber (nee Schaefer) in a log cabin house in the town of Day in
Marathon County.  She married Harold Glowacki on Nov. 8, 1951, in
Milwaukee and moved to Grafton two years later and resided there for
over 50 years.

Helen had one daughter, Christine, who became involved in 4-H.

leader. She was a 4-H dog leader for 11 years. Helen was active in homemakers club for  33 years in Ozaukee County. You could find her every year at the Ozaukee County Fair helping in the cream puff booth. Helen worked for 16 years in the office at Tecumseh until her retirement on June 6,
1986.  Several of the women and Helen continued to get together for
years after retirement to socialize.

In retirement, Helen was very active at both the Cedarburg and
Grafton senior centers. She loved ceramics, striders walking group
and all the trips. Both Helen and Harold enjoyed traveling during
retirement and they informally  belonged to a "travel group" who
traveled together.  Helen was involved in developing a "support
group" for spouses of residents at Lasata Care Center.  Her husband,
Harold, lived at Lasata for several years until  his death in 2005.
Four years ago, Helen moved closer to her daughter and had been
living at Kirkland Crossings in Pewaukee. She continued to enjoy
exercising, art, pet therapy and bus trips.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Christine (Jim Buchert) Glowacki
of Nashotah; sisters, Lorraine Guldan of Marshfield, Germaine (Frank)
Tehako of Iron Mountain, Mich.; a brother, Donald (Cecelia) Schieber
of North Prairie;  and an aunt, Lucille (nee Schaefer) Klotz of
Milwaukee. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
