Esther A. Rennicke, 102 A funeral service was held for Esther A. Rennicke, who passed away at the Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg on Jan. 13, 2012, one day after her 102nd birthday. The service was held at Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg, with the Rev. Brent Halverson presiding. Interment took place at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, West Mequon. For online condolences please visit www.muellerfuneralhome.com. Esther was born on Jan. 12, 1920, in Port Washington, to Charly and Julia (nee Reese) Opitz. She later married Arthur Rennicke in 1942, at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Saukville. Their marriage was blessed with four children. Esther was an elementary school teacher who taught at the Lakeland Elementary School in Saukville, Thoreau Elementary School in Mequon, Hacker Elementary School as well as Parkview Elementary School in Cedarburg. She was one of the founding members of the Retired Teachers Association. Esther was also involved in writing the history of the one-room schoolhouses in Ozaukee County. Esther is survived by her children, Charles Rennicke, Jean Pitters and Mark (Cindy) Rennicke; and grandchildren, Aaron Pitters, Matthew Pitters, Michael (Emily) Rennicke, Brian Rennicke and Thomas Rennicke. She is further survived by many other relatives and friends. Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur Rennicke; son, Paul Rennicke; and three sisters, Olive Opitz, Lucille Optiz, and Ida Opitz.
