Michael J. O’Connor Sr., 81|
Michael John O’Connor Sr., 81, of West Bend passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012. He was born on March 24, 1930 in Florence, Wis. to James and Beatrice (nee Boerger) O’Connor.
Michael was a graduate of Florence High School. He served in the United States Army and later received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in education. He was a teacher for 30-plus years, with 20 years spent at Kennedy Middle School in Germantown. He was also the golf coach for Germantown High School for many years. Michael was an avid baseball player, golfer, hunter, Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Michael is survived by his second wife Shirley. He is also survived by his children from his first marriage Michael (Dianne) O’Connor, Jr. and Coleen (Robert) Seitz; and grandchildren Carlee, Dylan, and Andrew Seitz. He is further survived by sister Mary Shields, brother-in-law Merf Roosen, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents James and Beatrice and sister Patricia Roosen.
A memorial service for Michael will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012 at the Phillip Funeral Home (1420 W. Paradise Drive) in West Bend. Gathering will be from noon until time of service (2 p.m.) on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012. Memorials are appreciated to the Washington County Humane Society (3650 Highway 60, Slinger, WI 53086) or the National Military Family Association (National Military Family Association, Inc., 2500 North Van Dorn Street, Suite 102, Alexandria, VA 22302-1601).
