Douglas A. Martin, 76, of the town of Erin, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012 at his residence.
Doug was born on July 11, 1935 in Sussex to Alphonse and Barbara (nee Schuster) Martin. He was united in marriage to Marian Beine on Oct. 31, 1956 at St. Kilian Catholic Church.
Doug worked as a mechanic in the trucking industry for most of his career. He had been a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Thompson. Doug enjoyed fixing things and was always in his garage tinkering. He had a talent of building something out of almost nothing.
Doug is survived by his wife Marian; children Scott, Judy (John) Sherwood, Kathleen Rosine, Laura (Michael) Lentz, Cindy (Michael) Loosen, Robert (Charlotte) Martin and Jay Martin; grandchildren Bradley, Clayton and Morgan Lentz, Julia, Jacob and Sierra Loosen, Robert Martin II, Jonathon Martin, Richard (Stephanie) Herriges and family, Candace Herriges, Craig (Jennifer) Rosine and family Bryan (Angela) Rosine and Jennifer Sherwood; brothers and sisters Richard (Diane) Martin, Rita Jungbluth, Mary (Leo) Komp, Shirley (Martin) Zweig, Betty (Roger) Tremaine, Edward Martin, Barbara (James) Kuehl, Susan Martin-Grulke, James (Jackie) Martin, Christine Martin, Virginia (Scott) Tremaine and Stephen (Marge) Martin; and his brothers and sisters-in-law Dorothy Marks, Andrew Jr. (Evelyn) Beine, Walter (Ann) Beine, Norman (Diane) Beine, Richard (Karen) Beine, Rueben (Anola) Beine, Helen (Gerald) Koepp, Frederick (Donna) Beine and Leo Wondra. He is further survived by David Rosine, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, his inlaws Andrew and Eleanore Beine, his son Jeff Martin, his sister Joan Wittnebel, his brothers Ralph, Tom and Michael Martin, and his sister-in-law Marcella Wondra.
Mass of Christian Burial for Doug will be held on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Kilian Catholic Church, Hartford, with Rev. David LaPlante officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday from 3:30-7:30 p.m. at the church.
Interment at St. Patrick Cemetery, Thompson.
