Leona A. Van Beek, 98

Leona A. Van Beek (nee Schneider), 98, of West Bend died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012 at Kettle Moraine Gardens in Kewaskum. She was born March 10, 1913 in Rozellville, Marathon County to the late Jacob and Mary (nee Weiss) Schneider and married Clarence J. Van Beek on Oct.12, 1943 at St. Michaelís Catholic Church in St. Michaelís.

Leona was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was always available to help her family with her wisdom. Leona was a hardworking farmerís wife and worked tirelessly in her kitchen.

Leona was extremely dedicated to her church where she enjoyed volunteering in the kitchen. She was a member of the Christian Womanís Society at St. Maryís Immaculate Conception Church.

Leona is survived by her husband of 68 years, Clarence, seven children: Jim (Sue) of St. Kilian, Rev. Alois of Neosho, Mary (Jim) Brodzeller of West Bend, Gerald of St. Kilian, Howard of Ashford, Earl of Ashford and Sylvester (Patricia) of Mayville, 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her daughter-in-law Bridget Van Beek of Waupun, her sister-in-law Helen (Ray) Chapman of West Bend, a brother-in-law Jerome Chapman of West Bend, and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Mary Schneider, three sons: Rayner, Donald and Leo, a great-grandson Isaiah Van Beek, three brothers: Alois, Leo and Arnold, four sisters: Marcella and Paul Wagner, Arlene and Leo Fellenz, Lucille and Edmund Rinzel and Helen and Carl Vogt, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Albert and Elizabeth Van Beek, and a sister-in-law Dolores Chapman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Jan. 23, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Maryís Immaculate Conception Church in West Bend with Rev. Alois Van Beek presiding. Burial will follow in St. Maryís Old Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, at the church only from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Memorials to the St. Maryís Endowment Fund are appreciated.
