Barbara E. Lusher, 79

Barbara E. Lusher, 79, of Eau Claire and formerly of Hillsdale died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 at Dove Healthcare in Eau Claire. 

She was born Aug. 11, 1932 to Arthur and Annetta (Boldt) Boden at West Bend, where she was raised and attended school. She graduated from West Bend High School in 1950 and on Sept. 7, 1953, she was married to Ivan Thelen at West Bend. On Dec. 30, 1972, she was married to Louis Lusher at Brunswick, Ga. and the couple moved to Hillsdale in 1975 where they built a home. 

Louie and Barb became "Born Again Christians" in 1979 and opened their home to many traveling ministers and missionaries. They joined Mobile Missionary Assistance Program in 1993 and traveled throughout the United States helping to build churches and youth camps. They moved to Eau Claire in 2004. Barb was known as the "butterfly lady" to many as she crafted and handed out butterflies with a salvation message. She loved painting, knitting and weaving pine needle baskets. 

Barb was preceded in death by her parents and sisters: Ruth Bartels and Blanche Stehling. She is survived by her husband: Louie of Eau Claire, daughters: Debi (Gerald) Nelson of Houlton and Karen (Gordon) Halverson of Eau Claire, step-daughter: Janice Israel of Maryland, grandchildren: Seth (Amber) Halverson of Rice Lake, Caleb Halverson of Canton, Pa., Emily Halverson of Winterset, Iowa and Isaiah Halverson of Eau Claire, step-grandchildren: Tamara (Bill) VanDiver, Daniel and David Israel all of Maryland, great-grandchildren: Joshua and Wyatt Halverson, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27 at Pleasant Valley Christian Center, rural Eau Claire, with Pastors Gaylon Woerner and Dennis Pond officiating.
