Harry C. Stroessner, 80|
The Rev. Harry C. Stroessner, 80, of Ely and Eden Prairie, Minn. passed away on Jan. 9, 2012. He was born in the town of Saukville on March 13, 1931.
He joins his parents, Walter and Rose (Groteleuschen) Stroessner; his siblings, Betty Rose and Walter (Wilma); and his parents-in-law, Eric and Helen Stephens.
Harry is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Bonnie; their children, Libby (Bob) Fairchild from Chaska, Minn.; Mark (Nancy) from Apple Valley, Minn.; Stacy (Bill) Kehrwald from Eden Prairie, Minn.; Lisa (John Siler) from Crystal, Minn.; and Todd (Liz) from Hopkins, Minn.; grandchildren, Brian Fairchild; Kamie Kehrwald; SkyAnne Walker-Stroessner; Laura (Abby Waldman) Stroessner; Jillian Walker-Stroessner; Jack Stroessner and Kyle Kehrwald; and three great-grandchildren. Also survived by his siblings, Wayne (Carole), Random Lake; Joyce (James) Meinberg, West Bend; Gordon (Patricia), Grafton; and Diane (Roger) Kraus, Fredonia.
Harry attended high school in Port Washington and Mission House/ Lakeland College in Sheboygan County. Harry was a United Church of Christ pastor for his entire career, having served congregations in Maple Lake, Fairmont, Bloomington, and Minneapolis. He was the gathering pastor of All Nations Indian Church in Minneapolis, which was the first urban Indian congregation established by this denomination. Harry served as a student pastor at a Methodist church in New Holstein and in retirement served Presbyterian congregations in Babbitt and Ely, Minn. on occasion. He touched the lives of many and demonstrated the way to live and die with grace and dignity.
Harry’s earthly body was donated to the University of Minnesota Medical School for education and research.
A celebration of Harry’s life will take place from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Oak Ridge Hotel & Conference Center at One Oak Ridge Drive in Chaska, Minn.
