Herbert "Herb" M. Gauger, 92, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012.
Herb was born on Sept. 12, 1919 to Emil and Lisetta (nee Dettmann) Gauger. He married Loraine Schoenbeck on June 20, 1942 at Camp Crowder, Mo. Herb was also a dedicated member of the United States Army Signal Corp.
Herb briefly worked at the Gehl Co. He then began dairy farming near Newburg and working part time for Lochen Implement. Herb farmed for 30 years and worked at Lochen Implement into his 80s.
Herb was an avid fisherman and loved to travel the nation with his wife Loraine. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Herb is survived by his daughters Karen Becker of Jackson, Kathleen Sims of Jackson, and Kristine (Joseph) Gayan of West Bend; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother Harold (Doris) Gauger, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Herbert is preceded in death by his wife Loraine; grandson Steven Becker; parents Emil and Lisetta; son-in-law Gideon Becker; brothers Ruben (Ada) Gauger, Elmer (Evelyn) Gauger, and Arnold Gauger; and sister Meta (Dan) Infalt.
A funeral service for Herbert will be at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, 623 Congress St., in Newburg with Pastor Jon Baumann presiding. Visitation will be from 2 p.m.-3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 at the CHURCH ONLY. Interment will follow at St. Johnís Ev. Lutheran Cemetery.
