Catherine Ann Schwitzer
In loving memory of Catherine Ann (Peggy) Schwitzer (nee Curran), whose 89 years of life ended July 3, 2012, while surrounded by family in Eden Prairie, Minn.
Peggy was born Jan. 23, 1923, and grew up in Campbellsport.
She was the daughter of the late Emmett and Estella (nee Blackbird) Curran. Her proud Irish heritage was a distinguishing characteristic in her personality through all of her days. Her spirit was strong and cheerful through her final moments.
She attended Marquette University and was pianist for the chorus, which is how she met Walter J. Schwitzer of Milwaukee. They married on Oct. 26, 1946. They lived together in Wisconsin for 38 years (Milwaukee, Campbellsport, West Bend), in Sarasota, Fla., for 28 years, and in Eden Prairie, Minn., for just three months. Besides raising a family, Peggy was a teacher – starting in a one-room elementary school – a bank receptionist and a frequent volunteer.
She is survived by her husband Walter, who now lives in Eden Prairie, Minn; by her children, Jim (and Lani) of Eden Prairie, Patty Spaulding (and Doug) of Burke, Va., and Gary (and Michele) of Saint Paul; by nine grandchildren (Jack, Chrissy and Mike Spaulding; Becca Ahern; Kathy, Luke, Jake, Heidi and Megan Schwitzer); and by four great-grandchildren (Reed and Scarlett Spaulding, Leah Schwitzer, Emma Ahern).
A memorial Mass will be at Pax Christi Catholic Church in Eden Prairie, Minn., on July 7.
Peggy’s family thanks her friends and neighbors in the Palm-Aire Country Club community of Sarasota, Fla., who offered so much help to her and to the family.
The family prefers that any donation be made to a hospice of your choice.
