Joseph E. Gindt, 81 |
Joseph E. Gindt of West Bend passed away at the age of 81 on July 7, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Jan. 15, 1931, to Joseph and Viola (Mueller) Gindt. He was united in marriage to Joan (Koepp) on June 8, 1957, at Peace Lutheran Church, Hartford.
Joe worked at Knippel’s Barber Shop for 42 years, owning and operating it since 1959. He retired in 1997. Joe served his country in the Marine Corps from 1951-1953, attaining the rank of sergeant during the Korean conflict. Joe was a quiet and loving husband, father and proud grandfather. He enjoyed gardening, attending his grandchildrens’ sporting events, volunteering at church, watching sports on TV, especially the Brewers and Packers and spending time with friends for coffee and lunch.
Joe is survived by his loving wife Joan of 55 years, their son Joe (Wanda) of Green Bay, grandson Jordan (Kristi) of Scottsdale, Ariz., granddaughter Claire of Milwaukee, and grandson Connor of Green Bay. He is also survived by his sister in-law Helen Gindt of Mayville, brother in-law Armond Sterr of El Paso, Texas, sister in-law Diane Gindt of Kewaskum and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Marvin, sister Dorothy and brother Dennis.
Visitation will be from 4-6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 462 Meadowbrook Drive, West Bend, with a funeral service to follow. A private burial service will be held on Thursday morning at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Knowles. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Association (13100 W Lisbon Road, Suite 700, Brookfield, WI 53005-2508) or Pilgrim Lutheran Church.
