Gail A. Groshek, 72

Gail A. Groshek, 72, of Saukville, died July 20, 2012, at Horizon Hospice in Mequon.

She was born Nov. 15, 1939, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Luther "Lutz" and Lillian Rutherford Rathke, who both preceded her in death.

Gail was a 1957 graduate of Port Washington High School and attended nursing school at Milwaukee Lutheran Hospital.

On Aug. 25, 1960, she married Maynard Groshek at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton. He preceded her in death in 1997. Gail was instrumental in starting the oncology clinic at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Port Washington. She continued working at Columbia St.

Mary’s Hospital in Mequon until retiring in 2004. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton and enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her two children, John (Jody) of Batavia and Beth

(Michael) Petruzates of Clintonville; four grandchildren, Nicole, Jacob, Megan and Jessica; her sister, Irene (Skeeter) Schmitz of Oostburg; three brothers, Rich (Evie) Rathke of Fredonia, Tom (Kathy) Rathke of Virginia and Ernie (Sandy) Rathke of Belgium; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held today, July 24, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 701 Washington St., Grafton. Interment will be at St. Paul Cemetery. Visitation was at Eernisse Funeral Home, Cedarburg, on Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and at the church today from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
