William Borges, 77 |
William “Bill” Borges, 77, passed away peacefully at home on May 29, 2012 after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Julianne Borges (nee Ruedt), his children, Susan (Daniel) Vliet and Tipi (George) Welsh, as well as grandchildren Sally and Connor Vliet and George, Emily and Jack Welsh. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Catherine Borges (nee Fox) and his sister Catherine Borges. Bill was born on May 2, 1935 in Milwaukee.
He graduated from Milton College and commenced a career in sales that took him back to Milwaukee and Wrought Washer Manufacturing in 1960, where he became president in 1974. He continued to work there until he retired in 1981. He served on the boards of St. Luke’s Hospital and Marine Bank and was a member of the Rotary Club of Milwaukee, the University Club and the Milwaukee Club.
In retirement he pursued his many hobbies including carving, painting, antique cars, trucks and military memorabilia. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed his dogs and cats his entire life and even put up with Julie’s llamas. His quick wit and sense of humor will be missed by all.

The family thanks the compassionate and caring staff at Cedar Ridge Home Health and Hospice.
Per Bill’s wishes, a memorial celebration will be held at a later date.
