Richard J. Fries, 95, passed away Friday, June 1, 2012, at Samaritan Health Care Center.
Richard was born on May 7, 1917, in Slinger to Adolph and Marie (nee Merten) Fries. After high school, he joined the Army Reserves and then began his career at Slinger Foundry. Richard married Florence Peters on June 13, 1942, at Holy Angels Catholic Church.
Richardís love of his life was playing baseball, including playing in the Land Oí Lakes League. His other passions were gardening and spending time when he had some with his family and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Richard was a lifelong member of St. Peter Catholic Church, member of the Legion of Mary and led the Rosary at church.
Richard is survived by his children Diane (Mike) Reseburg of West Bend, Gerald (Lina) of Waterloo, Iowa, Mary (Jack) Arnold of West Bend, Paul (Angie) of Glendale, Ariz., Mark (Linda) of Vacaville, Calif., Joann Fries of St. Lawrence, Janet Fries of Mayville and LuAnn (Bob) Raasch of Hartford. He is further survived by 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, sister Mary Ann Getz, three brothers-in-law Jerome (Bernice) Peters, Fritz (Rosie) Peters, Earl (Pam) Peters, sister-in-law Mary Peters, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his wife Florence, parents, son Robert, grandchildren Jody Reseburg and Michael Falco, and brother Norman Fries.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, June 7, 2012, at noon at St. Peterís Catholic Church (200 E. Washington St. in Slinger) with the Rev. Richard Stoffel presiding.
Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of Mass. Interment will follow at St. Peterís Catholic Cemetery.
