Raymond F. Maas|
Went to His Heavenly Home on June 10, 2012 at the age of 93. Ray was born in Milwaukee, WI on September 7, 1918 the son of the late Rudolph and Ada (nee Groth) Maas. Ray was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church, Milwaukee, WI. Ray and his family attended Bethesda Lutheran Church and he and his sister, Dorothy, both attended Bethesda Lutheran School. Upon Graduation from Bethesda Lutheran School in 1932, Ray attended Lutheran High School of Milwaukee and graduated in 1936. Ray honed his accounting skills at 1st Wisconsin Bank till such time as his family moved to their farm in Cedarburg. Ray, together with his father and mother, operated the farm, but Ray also continued taking courses in accounting and business. Ray then started his career in public service as Ozaukee County Treasurer, an elected office which he held for many years.
Ray met and married Gertrude "Trudy" (nee Dornfeld) Boecher and she became his life partner until her death Jan. 31, 2004. Ray continued to do appraisal and audit work after his retirement from the Treasurer’s office. He also remained in close contact with the Carl (Jane) Boecher and children Lisa and Mike, his class mates from Lutheran High and his Maas cousins. An avid reader, Ray was a fountain of knowledge and insight. He is greatly loved and will be missed by the Boecher, Maas and Radue families.
Funeral services were held at Mueller Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, June 13– 5:00 PM. Interment Graceland Cemetery.
Visitation was held on Wednesday from 4:00-5:00 PM. Memorials to Lutheran High School Association of Greater Milwaukee appreciated.
