Rosalie Lord, 100


Rosalie Lord passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, one month away from her 101st birthday.

Anna Marcella Rosamund “Rosalie” Lord was born July 29, 1911, in Glenbeulah to Frank and Rose (Krell) Lord. Her father was a cheese maker and Rosalie spent much of her life in the West Bend area.

As a child she would visit her grandparents Edwin and Anna Killoy Lord on their farm in Nebraska Hollow, Richland County. As an adult she spent part of every summer with her cousin Mamie Nee Higgins in Richland Center. Sine 1997, Rosalie has lived in Muscoda at the Golden Living Center, Riverdale.
Rosalie had a great zest for life and enjoyed every day, telling good stories along the way. On Sunday, June 10, 2012, she enjoyed the annual picnic at Golden Living Center, Riverdale with her cousin Jane Nee. They listened to music and enjoyed the outdoors. Her many interests in life included traveling, dancing, family history and all was grounded in her deep Catholic faith.

Rosalie was legendary at The Annual Lord Reunion for her photography and knowledge of family history.

In 2011, she was honored by The West Bend Company on their 100th anniversary and her 100th birthday. She had worked in The West Bend Company for many years. At the 2011 Richland County Fair she was honored as a centenarian of Richland County.

Survivors include her cousins who assisted her later in life: Caroline and Ben Barr of West Bend, Jane Nee of Richland Center and Michael H. Nee of New York.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Franklin, Nathan, Janice and Evelyn. Also preceding her in death were her cousins Betty Ruppert and Agnes Maxwell of Lone Rock.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 18, 2012, at the Golden Living Center, Riverdale in Muscoda at 10 a.m. The Rev. Kenneth Frisch will officiate. Graveside services will be held at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Newburg, where Rosalie will be buried next to her parents. The Godager Pratt Funeral Home of Muscoda is assisting the family with their arrangements.

The family wishes to thank the Golden Living Center, Riverdale staff for having made Rosalie’s life comfortable and enjoyable.
