Maryalyce Rathke, 79

Maryalyce Rathke (nee Klein), age 79 years, of West Bend, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Kathy Hospice.

Maryalyce was born on April 21, 1933, in Oakfield, to Edwin and Laura (nee Brennecke) Klein. She graduated from West Bend High School, class of 1949. She worked as a legal secretary until she married Walter Rathke on May 5, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jackson. After marriage she joined Walter on the family farm in the town of Trenton. Maryalyce enjoyed cooking, baking, board games, adored playing cards, and especially spending time with her family and friends. She was involved with the Ladies Aide, Choir, Sunday school and Evangelism at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church in Newburg. The couple was one of the original supporters of Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School and she enjoyed volunteering for several years when the school opened.

Maryalyce is survived by her husband Walter, children Laurie (Bob) Brunz of Sioux Falls, S.D., Bryan (Billie) of West Bend, Ellyn (John) Grasse of Campbellsport, Brenda (Jeff) Rusch of New Richmond, Claudia (Dean) Biebert of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Jen-nifer (Darryl) Pufahl of Waterford, Andrea (Stephan) Wolff of West Bend and Jordan (Lisa) of West Bend. She is further survived by 51 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Willard (Burnette) Klein, Kenneth (Ruth) Klein, Melvin (Delores) Klein, inlaws Linda (Fred) Poweleit, Eleanor (Marvin) Stanley, George (Esther) Rathke, Gerda (Marcus) Liesener, Hildegarde (Frank) Heiser, Esther Rathke, grandson Jared Brunz, and daughter in-law Cheryl Rathke.

A funeral service will be at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, 2012, at St. Johnís Evangelical. Lutheran Church in Newburg (623 Congress St.) with the Rev. Jon Baumann presiding. Interment to follow service at St. Johnís Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church only on Sunday, July 1, from 1:30 p.m. until time of service (4 p.m.). Memorials are appreciated to Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School or St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church of Newburg.
