John N. Oelhafen, 69

John "Hunzy" N. Oelhafen, 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 11, 2012.

John was born on Sept. 15, 1942 to John A. and Therese (nee Vogt) Oelhafen.

He attended St. Anthony Grade School and was a graduate of Kewaskum High School, Class of 1960. He married Beverly Kissinger on Aug. 26, 1967 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend.

John owned and operated a dairy farm in the town of Wayne until 1986. He then pursued truck driving until his retirement. John was a member of the Kohlsville Volunteer Fire Department. His many hobbies included card playing, bowling and golfing. John enjoyed polka dancing to the Good Time Dutchmen and Bernie Roberts bands.

John loved to spend time with his family, and he was especially proud of his grandchildren. He will be missed by his special pet, Sambo.

John is survived by his wife Bev; children Mary (Ron) Beine, Pam (Dan) Beine, and Tim (Jeannette) Oelhafen; and grandchildren Steven, Sarah, Matthew, Christopher, Nicholas, Tyler, Jacob, Andrew, and Elizabeth. He is further survived by his brother Jim (Carol) Oelhafen and sister Cindy (John) Shaske; brothers-inlaw Dave (Carol), Tom (Karen), Steve (Lynn), John (Barb), and Jim (Peggy) Kissinger; aunts Lillian Oelhafen, Cyrilla (Bill) Thull, Kate (Jack) Weninger, Marian Vogt; uncle William Oelhafen; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends. John is preceded in death by his parents John A. and Therese Oelhafen, inlaws Al and Imelda "Tiny" Kissinger, and niece Brenda Oelhafen.

A Mass of Christian burial for John will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 331 Main St., in Kewaskum with Fr. Edwin Kornath presiding. Visitation will be from 3-6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the church ONLY. Private interment will take place at Holy Angels Catholic Cemetery in West Bend.
