Robert N. Kiefer, 84, of West Bend died on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at The Kathy Hospice. He was born on Aug. 26, 1927 in West Bend to the late Nicolaus and Isabella (nee Felten) Kiefer.
Bob began his career as an auto mechanic for Bill Doll Pontiac-Buick in Hartford, which led to meeting Marion Mueller who worked in a nearby store. The couple was married on Sept. 9, 1950 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Lawrence. He later went on to work at Klinka Oldsmobile in West Bend.
For 25 years, he worked as an over-the-road semi truck driver for Pick Automotive Company, EIS Corporations and Praefke Company. He also spent many years in the maintenance department before retiring at the age of 70.
He had a life-long love of motorcycles and was a member of the Antique Motorcycle Club of Wisconsin.
Bob was a friend to three generations of the Vrana family, on whom he liked to play practical jokes.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years Marion; two daughters Mary (Ted) Neveln and Lori (Jon) Glass; five grandchildren Nicholas, Amanda, David, Christine and Alyssa; one great-grandchild; one brother Ray (Mary); special friends Jim and Lynn Berres; brothers in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter Cindy Gessner, one son Rick Kiefer, one granddaughter Megan Gessner and one brother Art Kiefer.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, March 15 at 11 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church with burial following in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the Schmidt Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. and also at the church only on Thursday from 10 until 10;45 a.m.
The family has requested memorials to The Kathy Hospice. Bobís family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of The Kathy Hospice and to Dr. Gill for their compassionate care.
