Irene Meyer, 90
Irene Meyer, 90, of Campbellsport passed
away Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac. She was
born Sept. 13, 1921 in the town of Eden, the daughter of the late Frank
and Johanna Campbell Ketter. On June 14, 1941, Irene married John P. Meyer
at St. Mathew’s Catholic Church, Campbellsport. He preceded her in death
on Sept. 23, 1998.
She was a member of St. Matthew’s and the Christian Women, the
Campbellsport Woman’s Club and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #0347.
For 20 years, she was co-chairman of the Red Cross Blood Drive in
Campbellsport and a member of the Election Board for many years. She and
her husband owned and operated Meyer Ford-Mercury, Inc. and she was active
in many local community projects.
Survivors include her daughter Karen Kordick and her husband Earl of
Wildwood, Mo.; her sons James R. Meyer and his wife Kristine of
Campbellsport and Joseph P. Meyer and his friend Dale Sigvaldsen of
Milwaukee; her grandchildren Sharon Adams and her husband Rick of
Defiance, Mo., Joel Thiel and his wife Tammy of Columbia, Mo., Todd Meyer
and his wife Nicole of Wake Forest, N.C., and Jason Meyer and his special
friend Jamie of Oshkosh; her great grandchildren Ariana, Teague and Tyson
Meyer; her sistersin-law and brothers-in-law Jeanette and Verle Caple of
Longview, Wash., Bernice Tennessen of Milwaukee, Marjorie Ketter of
Campbellsport and Larry Fuller of Germantown; and nieces, nephews other
relatives and friends. Along with her husband John, she was preceded in
death by her brothers Leo J. in 2001, James in 1964 and Raymond in 2000.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Sunday, March 18 at 4 p.m. at
St. Matthew’s Church in Campbellsport. Rev. Neil Zinthefer will
officiate and private family burial services will follow in the parish
cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 18 at St. Matthew’s Church from 1 p.m.
until time of Mass. Memorials are appreciated to the Campbellsport Public
Library or the Campbellsport Historical Society.
