Charles C. Kugel, 78
C. Kugel, “Chuck,” age 78, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012, at
Kathy Hospice of West Bend. He was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Mich.,
graduating from Grand Rapids South High School Class of 1950. He graduated
from Michigan Tech with a BS in Geological Engineering in 1954. He was a
mining engineer in Colorado and New Mexico before relocating to Detroit
where he became a safety engineer for Hartford Insurance. He was
transferred to Milwaukee and worked as a fire protection engineer at F.M.
Global, and became the engineering manager for the Milwaukee office. He
was a Professional Engineer and Professional Geologist in Wisconsin,
member of Wisconsin Amateur Radio Club, Midas Investment Club, and St.
Jacobi Congregational Church. He served over 14 years in various
capacities for the village of Richfield, including as trustee for two
He loved playing cards, especially Sheepshead and Bridge. He will be
greatly missed by his dogs, Catie and Seamus.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary (nee Dallmann);
cousins, Dr. L.B. Hilborn, DDS (Lois) of Tennessee, Margery (Gene) Raab of
Michigan, and Marilyn Wales of Michigan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Suzanne (nee Cooper)
The Memorial Service for Chuck will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012,
at 6 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W. Paradise Drive, West
Bend, 53095) with the Rev. Hillary Bowser presiding. The visitation will
be at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 21, from 4 p.m. until the time
of service at 6 p.m.
