Gloria Mae Schaller, 81|
Gloria Mae Schaller (nee Cook), of West Bend, passed away Thursday March 22, 2012, at the age of 81 years at St. Mary’s Hospital Horizon Hospice surrounded by her loving family. Gloria was born on April 11, 1930, in Des Moines, Iowa to Henry H. and Stella K (nee Fox) Cook. On October 16, 1948, she married James O. Schaller at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Gloria was a hospital aide at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls and was also a member of the S/Sgt. Henry Gumm Post 486 American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and member of St. Frances Cabrini Church and very involved in volunteer activities at church.
She devoted her life raising her five children and being a loving wife to Jim. When her children were young, she enjoyed the synchronized swimming program at the YMCA. Throughout the years, her other hobbies included cooking, baking, rummaging, antique shopping, camping, dancing, and many good times with cherished neighbors, friends, and family.
Gloria is survived by her children Steven, Deborah (Norbert) Hembrook, Diane (Maurice) Koch, Eric (Marlyn) and Cynthia (Kenneth) Fergus; eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Adam and Derek Schaller, Troy and Todd Koch, Kyla Schaller, and Lindsey and Logan Fergus; six great grandchildren Tory, Angelee and Evelyn Schaller, Adam Jr. and Daniel Schaller, and Dereanna Schaller. She is further survived by other relatives and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6 p.m. Monday March 26, 2012, at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church (1025 S, 7th Ave., West Bend) with Fr. Nathan Reesman presiding. Visitation will take place on Monday March 26, at the church only from 4 p.m. until time of mass at 6 p.m. Gloria will be laid to rest on Tuesday, March 27, next to her loving soul mate, Jim, at Washington Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Robert Gibson and his nurses and staff involved in her care. We would also like to include Dr. William Verre, Dr. Andrew Feiring, Cedar Palliative Care and St. Mary’s Horizon Hospice of Mequon. Jim and Gloria’s children are so very grateful for the care and kindness you’ve given to them throughout the years.
