Ralph G. Bruckert, 78


Ralph G. Bruckert of West Bend died on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Froedtert Health St. Jospeh’s Hospital at the age of 78 years. He was born on May 15, 1933, in Nenno, to the late Frank and Emma (nee Breuer) Bruckert. Ralph worked the family farm until entering the United States Army. Following his discharge, he became employed at the West Bend Company, retiring in 1977.

On May 4, 1957, he was united in marriage to Rita E. Reinders at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Nabob. The couple then settled in West Bend.
Ralph was an avid sports fan and especially a baseball fan playing baseball in Allenton for a number of years and co-managing the VFW Little League team in West Bend for many years. He also cheered on the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago White Sox and the hometown favorite Milwaukee Brewers.

As a lifetime member of the Fred A. Schaefer Post No. 1393 VFW, he was a member of the drill team and honor guard. He also managed the VFW’s hospital equipment rental program, providing affordable equipment to many people in need. His memberships also included the Lt. Adrian Frankow Chapter No. 58 Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife Rita; six children, Donald (Cindy Sperling) of Sussex, Maureen (Michael) Liddy of Topeka, Kans., Eileen (Jon Cech) Bruckert of Prior Lake, Minn., Ray (fiancée Elizabeth Wilkinson) of Menomonee Falls, Jean (Greg) Heberer of Cedarburg and Gregory (Amy Redig) of West Bend; six grandchildren, Kelly Liddy, Robert (Cortney) Liddy, Mitchell (Jill) Bruckert, Emily Bruckert (fiancée Brandon Kos), Stephen Heberer and Jamie Heberer; one great-grandson, Robbie Liddy, Jr.; one brother and five sisters: Peter (Eugenia) of Nenno, Marion Krieser of Kewaskum, Virginia Feucht of Nenno, Rosemary Henning of Theresa and Helen Giese of Mayville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Theresa Bruckert of West Bend, Paul (Shirley) Reinders of West Bend, Joseph (Marlene) Reinders of West Bend, Alfred, Jr. (Shari) Reinders of Beaver Dam, Ceil (Ed) Kroll of West Bend, Teresa (Mathias) Stoffel of West Bend, Mary Ann Mayer of Port Washington, Alice (Peter) Schulteis of Milwaukee, Judith (Bernard) Beck of West Bend, Rosemary (Raymond) Zingsheim of Colgate and Lorraine Boden of Hartford; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gilbert, two brothers in infancy, his parents-in-law Alfred and Olive Reinders, brothers-and-sisters-in-law Kenneth Krieser, George Feucht, Eli Henning, Harvey Giese, Clara and Leroy Boden, Alex and Marilyn Reinders and Lester Mayer, Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerald Brittain presiding. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend on Sunday from 4 until 7 p.m. and also Monday at the church only from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m.

For the past 35 years, Ralph has lived with multiple sclerosis.

The family has requested memorials to the Multiple Sclerosis Society-Wisconsin Chapter or the Holy Angels School Trust Fund.

The Bruckert Family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital, West Bend Clinic and Horizon Home Health Care, especially Linda, for the wonderful care they gave Ralph now and all during his illness.
